Okay, I found it.  I loved it because it started out with the line, coffee black, and as everyone knew how much I loved coffee, Uncle Joe always played it, but it’s a good, good song, and as Uncle Joe used to say about Don Williams, “He’s smooth.”  Yes indeed.

Right before Merle Haggard died, I wrote an article for Louisiana Life about country music.  And do you know, I can’t associate one unhappy memory with it at all…seems I always listened to it at the happiest times of my life, or having a happy time.  Anyway, Uncle Joe told me he always thought about me whenever he played this song when I wasn’t there.  We had a lot of happy times, it took one jealous snake to throw it all into a tailspin.  What is it about women who were born in January in the late 1940’s?
