Today my pre-dawn movie viewing was again on TCM and it was, “The Picasso Summer.”  Albert Finney and Yvette Mimieux.  1969.  What spoiled it for me were the three overly long, annoyingly scored animated montages of moving images of Picasso’s works.  One when they were in the tunnel museum with the wall   war and peace murals, one when they were voulez vousing, and the last, a bull fight.  I actually switched to the news during the last two montages and came back to the story when they were finished.  Albert Finney was so handsome back then I kept thinking, cut out the montages and give us Albert.  An okay film.
